The Midnight Library

by Matt Haig

A very easy read with predictable plot and cool premise, albeit it’s not as philosphically or scientifically interesting as I’d hoped, but it’s still able to bring a good well-paced story. Though I really wonder what happened to the people who Nora “possesses” for a while because I felt like some of their actions are way too out of their own original character.

The representation of how quantum mechanics is presented to the people as something our brain is able to interpret is quite an interesting concept, though I hope again that it is explained more thoroughly, but at that point it will probably be a full-blown science fiction novel by then, which I don’t mind either.

by Clifford Stoll

It’s very fascinating to see a story about cybersecurity from the early years of computing and networking and I love the way the author tells the story in great detail with some sense of humor. Though I would say halfway it gets quite repititive and at times I would quickly go through the pages just to get to the end. It’s also my first true crime book I’ve read and since it’s related to technology, I’m glad I gave the book a try.

Ask This Book a Question: An Interactive Journey to Find Wisdom for Life's Big and Little Decisions

by Vicki Tan

I haven’t fully read this book yet, but since the book is geared towards helping you make decisions (as seen from the book title), I’ll just give it a 5 star rating for now because I loved how it presents story and biases that can help guide your decisions towards your question, without having a definitive “yes” or “no” answer. It certainly helps you think about the question from different perspectives and guide you towards your own answer.

The Inner Compass: Cultivating the Courage to Trust Yourself

by Lawrence Yeo

It’s my first time reading about this author and I think it’s quite interesting how he presents how we shape our thoughts and decisions for our daily life. I believe the book is more driven towards people who are losing their sense of self, purpose, and direction in life. For me, I’ll need some re-reads to be able to fully grasp the concepts in the book.

Do It Today: Overcome Procrastination, Improve Productivity, and Achieve More Meaningful Things

by Darius Foroux

…That’s a long title. I think it’s a very straightforward book since the author sources the book from his blog posts and articles. It can give you the push you’re looking for to get things done but don’t expect any groundbreaking insights. The advices given are surface level, easy to digest and cannot fair against other self-help books such as Atomic Habits.
